The 49th GST council meeting held in February 2023 under the chairpersonship of the Union Finance Minister had many items on its agenda which among others also included some important changes in the GST rates and exemptions, trade facilitation measures, GST compensation etc. Having said this, one of the most awaited agenda items i.e., setting up of a GST appellate tribunal was also seen making some progress with the council of ministers accepting the report submitted by the group of ministers.
